Ashland, Mass. — November 1 — As clocks are adapted for the time change, the Ashland Fire Department is reminding locals to check their smoke detectors. Following crews' response to a house fire on Hilldale Road on Halloween night, the reminder was issued. The residents were able to put out the fire in this instance before it spread further because functioning smoke detectors warned them in advance.
