Wymore Volunteer Killed Trying to Rescue a Mother and Two Children

WYMORE,NE The Gage County jail administrator was killed early Monday morning while trying to rescue a mother and two children from a house fire in Wymore.

Jeremy Wach, 31, of Wymore, was killed shortly before 1 a.m. Monday morning while fighting a house fire at 720 I St. in Wymore, Gage County Attorney Randall Ritnour said.

Along with being in charge of the Gage County Detention Center, Wach also served as a deputy with the Gage County Sheriff's Office and a volunteer with the Wymore Fire Department.

Ritnour said Wach was killed when a roof collapsed on him while attempting to rescue a mother and two children in the blaze, which started at about 12:50 a.m. Monday. Two Blue Springs firefighters received superficial injuries when the roof collapsed but did not require medical attention.
