Hewlett, N.Y. — October 11 — The Hewlett Fire Department responded at 3:50 a.m. to a reported house fire in a one-and-a-half-story private dwelling. Chief of Department Velotti (3010) arrived to find heavy smoke showing and transmitted a Signal 10 for a working fire.
Engine 305 and Rescue 306 operated as the first-due companies, locating the fire in a bedroom and containing it to the room of origin. Engine 302 and mutual-aid units assisted with ventilation and overhaul. East Rockaway and Lynbrook companies provided coverage at Hewlett headquarters during the incident.
