WAYNE, NJ - The Wayne Fire Department was dispatched shortly after 10:00 P.M. on October 29th to 34 Burgess Place, a large one-story commercial building. Heavy smoke was showing from the rear and a second alarm was transmitted. Members worked to open two large overhead doors as Truck 2 laddered the roof. Heavy smoke continued from the C/D corner.

Once the doors were opened, the smoke lifted slightly and flames were visible from a small office area. Lines were stretched and hit the fire from inside and from the back. The fire was quickly extinguished because the company manufactured concrete casket vaults for burial and there was very little flammable in the building.

The fire was placed under control soon after with minimal overhaul. No injuries were reported.
