Fire in Vacant Newburgh Building Under Investigation

NEWBURGH, NY - On November 1st, Newburgh FD responded to 225 Third Street for a reported structure fire.

Firefighters arrived and found smoke and fire showing from the basement area, and Newburgh Car 4 requested a second-alarm sounded. Firefighters used hand lines to contain the fire that spread to the first floor. Air National Guard FD was also requested to the scene.

While this incident was taking place, Newburgh received an alarm of fire for 145 Renwick Street. Car 4 directed West Point and Cronomer Valley Fire Departments to that scene, while Car 3 requested Central Hudson also to Renwick Street.

Firefighters on Third St. checked the roof area of the residence while Central Hudson was called to Third Street as well. Mobile Life ALS stood by at Third Street during the incident. Mutual Aid was released after the fire was brought under control. Cronomer Valley FD stood by at the public safety building before responding to Renwick Street.

The fire is currently under investigation. The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
