Port Washington, N.Y. — October 24 — At approximately 9:45 p.m, the Port Washington Fire Department dispatched units to address a vehicle fire located on Soundview Drive within the Village of Port Washington North. Following multiple reports of the incident received by the Fire Communications Center, Assistant Chief Joseph LoRe was mobilized to respond to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a vehicle engulfed in flames within the driveway of a detached dwelling, where the conflagration posed an imminent threat to an adjacent automobile and the structure itself.
Emergency crews rapidly established a hose line to initiate suppression efforts, simultaneously implementing measures to safeguard the residence from additional harm. Intense radiant heat compromised the second vehicle and inflicted partial damage upon the dwelling. Although the fire was successfully contained prior to breaching the interior of the home, the structure sustained significant deterioration, including the melting of its vinyl siding.
Following the suppression of the blaze, firefighters undertook comprehensive overhaul operations across both vehicles and the compromised sections of the residence.
This meticulous process verified that the fire had been entirely extinguished and confirmed the absence of any concealed extension.
Local news reports indicate that no injuries occurred, as the department's swift response effectively contained the damage to the adjacent property.
The Port Washington Fire Department functioned in conjunction with units from Atlantic Hook & Ladder Company No.
1, Protection Engine Company No.1, Flower Hill Hose Company No.1, and Fire Medic Company No.1. Situated at 423 Port Washington Boulevard in Port Washington, New York, is the department.
