Seaford, N.Y. — October 7 — Seaford Fire Department Ladder 683 addressed two fire-related incidents, delivering essential truck company assistance to adjacent fire departments. As the second-due engine company, Ladder 683 arrived promptly at the scene of an active fire in North Massapequa, where the crew supported ongoing truck operations as firefighters worked to gain control of the incident.
Subsequently, the Massapequa Fire Department requisitioned the company to deploy as a working apparatus to a multi-alarm fire occurring on Clocks Boulevard. This incident, which took place on October 3, engulfed a two-story residence and its attached garage in intense flames. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered severe fire conditions, necessitating the support of several neighboring fire departments.Approximately one hundred firefighters mobilized to address the blaze at Clocks Boulevard.
The incident resulted in the displacement of four residents and necessitated the hospital transport of a firefighter, who is currently being treated for suspected heat exhaustion; however, no injuries were sustained by any civilians.Subsequently, the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office, in conjunction with the Nassau County Police Arson/Bomb Squad, launched an investigation to determine the origin of the fire.
The two assignments underscored Seaford's integral function within the regional mutual aid framework, wherein truck company assets were deployed to bolster fireground operations well beyond the jurisdiction of the department's primary response area.
The Seaford Fire Department, a volunteer agency headquartered at 2170 Southard Avenue in Seaford, New York, facilitated this extended support.
