Swansea, Mass. — Oct. 15 —This week, the Swansea Fire Department visited four elementary schools and six preschools in the town to reach over 1,300 students as part of their Fire Prevention Week outreach. "Fire Prevention Week: Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home," this year's national theme, was the main focus of the visits.
During each school visit, firefighters spoke about safe charging, proper handling and disposal of devices powered by lithium-ion batteries.
