Binghamton, NY - On 22 October at approximately 4:05 a.m., Binghamton Fire Department’s Engine 4, Group B, was dispatched to a report of an overturned tractor trailer on Interstate 81 North. While en route, dispatch informed responding units that the cab of the truck was fully involved in fire.

Upon arrival, the Binghamton Police Department had already closed the highway to ensure the safety of emergency personnel and motorists. Firefighters from Engine 4 quickly extinguished the fire and worked to control a fuel leak from the vehicle.

The driver had self-extricated prior to the arrival of fire crews. Binghamton Fire Department Ambulance personnel provided medical care on scene and transported the patient to Wilson Hospital for evaluation.
