Stratford, CT — October 30: With its recently purchased and installed rescue struts, the Stratford, Connecticut, Fire Department has begun a hectic training week centered on supplemental education. To hone the department's response to auto accidents on local roads, each shift will practice various extrication scenarios over the next few days.

A team of firefighter-instructors developed the department's training program and have undergone additional certifications to lead the instruction. They worked in collaboration with the apparatus committee and the crews that ride the vehicle to ensure the training reflects real-world conditions and the new tools’ capabilities.
