Sturbridge, Mass. — October 5, 2025 — The Sturbridge Firefighters Local 170 experienced a steady pace of calls on Sunday, balancing equipment maintenance and mutual aid responses across multiple towns. Between emergency runs, on-duty firefighters gave Tower 1 a thorough wash as part of routine maintenance, underscoring the department’s focus on readiness and care for its apparatus.

By day’s end, crews had handled seven emergency incidents, including medical calls and a water rescue dispatch on Long Pond that was later canceled when the occupants freed their boat. Sturbridge Ambulance 2 provided mutual aid to Southbridge for a cardiac arrest while Ambulance 1 responded to a separate chest pain call. Off-duty personnel stepped in to staff additional units during the overlap.
