West Seneca, N.Y. — October 17 — East Seneca Fire Company, which is part of West Seneca Fire District No.4, sent all of its available units to help South Line Fire District during a commercial building fire on French Road.

The response provided extra resources to the scene as firefighters worked to deal with the fire. Mutual-aid support enabled South Line to use personnel and equipment from nearby departments during the fire at the commercial structure.

According to a report from Seneca Hose Company No. 1, the fire was reported just after 3 p.m. on October 17.Seneca Hose Ladder 6 responded as a firefighter assist and search team (FAST) unit. The crew initially performed FAST duties but later shifted to defensive fire operations due to concerns about a possible roof collapse.

Firefighters used an elevated water stream to reach hidden areas of fire within the warehouse. An emergency demolition team later broke open part of the building’s exterior to improve access for firefighting operations. Crews continued working to put out the remaining fire before leaving the scene later that evening.

East Seneca Fire Company’s involvement demonstrated the importance of mutual aid in commercial fire incidents, where additional personnel and specialized equipment can help with fire suppression and ensure firefighter safety.
