Spring Valley, N.Y. — October 11 — Hillcrest Fire Company No. 1 responded to a vehicle extrication on West Clarkstown Road over the weekend. Captain Boney (6-4) took command upon arrival and verified that there was a single car on its side with the driver trapped. Res-Q-Jack struts, chains, and a come-along were used by crews from units 6-Squad, 6-SRV, and 6-Rescue to stabilize the vehicle. In order to free the patient, they then used Hurst cutters and a Milwaukee Sawzall to partially remove the roof.
