Holyoke, MA - The Holyoke Fire Department responded to several incidents throughout the day. One of the first occurred around noon at 115 Newton Street, where firefighters extinguished a small fire in an abandoned building. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Later in the evening, at approximately 6:47 p.m., crews were dispatched to the Salvation Army building on Appleton Street after reports of smoke inside the structure. Upon investigation, firefighters determined that a faulty boiler was the source of the smoke.

They conducted a thorough inspection to cool the boiler and chimney area. No injuries were reported in this incident either, and the cause continues to be investigated.

The Holyoke Fire Department extended its appreciation to all public safety partners who provided assistance throughout the day.
