Deposit, N.Y. — October 7 — The Deposit Fire Department responded Tuesday evening to a reported dumpster fire behind businesses on Front Street between Church Street and Dean Street in the Village of Deposit. The fire was visible from behind the buildings and crews arrived to find a working fire in a roll-off dumpster located near a vehicle and three buildings.
In order to deploy a second line, Midi-Pumper 22 entered the scene through the back narrow alley, while Engine 22, which was stationed on Front Street, extended a handline down the alley. Pumper-Tanker 22 was waiting at a water hydrant, prepared to provide more water if necessary. The dumpster was the only area left unaffected by the fire. Law enforcement identified an arson suspect near the fire, and the cause was determined to be incendiary.
