October 16, 2025 — On Thursday night, members of the Bellona Volunteer Fire Company conducted an interior operations training in a residential structure slated for demolition. The hands-on drill provided firefighters with valuable experience in a realistic environment.
Using a smoke machine to simulate zero-visibility conditions, crews practiced critical fireground skills including accountability, advancing charged hose lines to both the first and second floors, conducting primary and secondary room searches, proper truck placement, and performing hydraulic ventilation techniques.
Training in an acquired structure allowed members to apply classroom concepts to real-world scenarios, reinforcing teamwork, communication, and situational awareness in confined interior conditions.
The Bellona Volunteer Fire Company continues to emphasize the importance of regular, realistic training to maintain readiness and ensure effective responses when real emergencies occur.
