Yorktown, NY - For the second time in a single day, Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department personnel were called to extinguish an engulfed vehicle that required a foam suppression operation due to a compromised fuel system.

The alarm sounded at 7:12 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2026, dispatching Car 2532 and Engines 272, 273, and 274 to Veterans Road. Arriving units found the vehicle fully involved with active fire.

Crews stretched an attack line to knock down the primary body of fire, but were again forced to switch over to a Class B foam application when a ruptured fuel tank and severed fuel line began discharging burning fuel onto the pavement. Firefighters applied a thick blanket of foam to isolate the fuel source, rapidly bringing the fire under control.

Following complete extinguishment and hazard isolation, the scene was turned over to the Yorktown Police Department for further investigation and towing operations.
