Just before 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2025, the South Old Bridge Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a possible open burn on Texas Road. Upon arrival, firefighters quickly discovered that the incident was far more severe—a fully involved commercial garage fire with unknown materials burning inside.
Crews immediately went to work, managing to knock down the bulk of the flames within approximately an hour. The operation, however, continued for a total of seven hours as firefighters ensured complete extinguishment and safety of the scene.
The South Old Bridge Volunteer Fire Department received assistance from the Old Bridge Township Police Department, Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Company #1 – Station 51, East Brunswick Independent Fire Company, Middlesex County Hazmat, and Old Bridge Township EMS.
The department extended its gratitude to all mutual aid partners and its own members for their hard work, coordination, and dedication in bringing the situation under control.
