October 6, 2025 — Members of the Country Hills Fire Company operated alongside the Bradley Gardens Volunteer Fire Company and North Branch Volunteer Fire Company at a brush fire that broke out along the NJ Transit tracks near Route 202 in Bridgewater on Monday afternoon.
While units were enroute, Branchburg Fire Marshal reported a visible column of smoke from Branchburg Township, prompting Captain 21 to request assistance from the New Jersey Forest Fire Service (NJFFS). Upon arrival, Chief 24, Deputy 24, and Mini Pumper 24 encountered active fire and smoke along the tracks, with nearby power lines involved.
PSEG was immediately called to the scene to secure the power, while NJ Transit was notified of the fire’s proximity to the rail line. Engine 24 and Squad 24 arrived shortly after with additional personnel, working in coordination with 21 Fire, 49 Fire, and NJFFS crews to stop the fire’s spread. Once power was cut, firefighters were able to fully extinguish the remaining hot spots.
Crews operated for several hours, clearing the scene around 6:15 p.m. The Country Hills Fire Company extended thanks to the Bradley Gardens Rescue Squad for providing on-scene rehab support, as well as to the Green Knoll Fire Department and Raritan Borough Fire Department for covering the area and handling two additional calls during the incident.
The fire was successfully contained without injury, thanks to the swift coordination of multiple departments and agencies.
