October 12, 2025 — The Hampton Township Fire & Rescue issued a traffic advisory in the morning after a large tree came down, bringing power lines with it and causing multiple road closures in the area.

According to the department, Rt. 521 and Halsey Road (Cummins Hill), as well as Halsey Road at Garrett Drive, were closed while Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) crews assessed the situation and began restoration efforts. Department of Public Works (DPW) personnel also responded to assist with clearing the debris once conditions were safe.

Residents and motorists were urged to avoid the area and allow utility and emergency crews to work safely and efficiently.

The department thanked the community for its cooperation and reminded everyone to never approach or drive over downed wires, as they may still be energized and pose serious danger.
