— October 18 — Fire crews from West Deptford and Woodbury responded early Sunday to a reported home fire, conducting searches and checking for extension before assisting with overhaul, then responded to a second call in Woodbury.
At around 7 a.m., Task Force 6 was sent. Crews went to Woodbury Terrace and Laurel Avenue in West Deptford Township after Gloucester County Communications received multiple reports of a house fire.
West Deptford’s Squad 6 arrived at the 500 block of Audubon Avenue and discovered a one-story single-family home with flames visible from the rear and potential spread into the building. Chief 6 arrived and requested the working-fire assignment.
Ladder 5 from the Woodbury Fire Department responded on mutual aid with a five-person crew and arrived as the second-due truck company. Chief 5, Deputy 5, unit 502 and Battalion 5 responded.
Ladder 5’s team performed initial and follow-up inspections, looked for hidden fire spread, and helped with extinguishing efforts as crews worked to stop the flames. No reports of injuries to civilians or firefighters were filed.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Gloucester County Fire Marshal’s Office.
