At 6:48 p.m. Saturday evening, the Woodcliff Lake Fire Department was called to a fire on Winfield Drive that involved a grill on a townhouse's deck. Unit 68-4 requested a "working fire" assignment upon arrival after reporting a fire emanating from the back of the middle unit in a row of townhouses. Numerous departments provided mutual aid, including the Tri-Boro Ambulance Service BLS, the Westwood Fire Department RIT unit, the Saddle River Fire Department Ladder, and the Hillsdale Fire Department Engine. Together with the rescue engine and mutual-aid companies, Truck 68 set up operations on the roof and helped open the roof and attic areas, while WLFD Squad 68 stretched a 1¾-inch line to the rear access.
The fire is under investigation by the Woodcliff Lake Fire Prevention Bureau. Deputy 68-2 had command from Winthrop Drive.
