This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Early Sunday morning, Glassboro Fire Department Squad 26 responded to a building fire in Washington Township after being assigned to cover nearby communities while crews operated at an apartment fire in Pitman.

Just before 5 a.m., Nearby fire departments were fighting an apartment fire in Pitman Borough, New Jersey. Squad 26 was taking a separate call in Glassboro when that happened. Once the issue was resolved, the team was instructed to assemble at a central point to protect nearby areas while the Pitman task proceeded.

Just before 6 a.m., The Washington Township Fire Department was sent to a fire alarm. Squad 26 let Battalion 10 know that it was nearby and was directed to respond.

The Glassboro crew arrived soon and discovered smoke emerging from the structure. Firefighters deployed an attack line and entered to find a small fire already contained by the building's fire suppression system. The remaining fire was quickly extinguished by crews.
