Haddon Ladder 14 Assisted Firefighters at Lawnside House Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Lawnside, N.J. — October 14 — Ladder 14 from Haddon Fire Company No.1 provided mutual aid to help local firefighters at a reported fire in a residential building in Lawnside.

The ladder company responded to assist with fireground operations and offer additional resources as required. Mutual-aid agreements allow nearby fire departments to share personnel and equipment when an incident demands more support than the local department can provide on its own.

Ladder companies are essential during residential fires. Depending on the situation and the orders of the incident commander, crews may be tasked with placing ladders, gaining access to buildings, conducting searches, providing ventilation, and performing other duties on the fireground. The specific roles assigned depend on the conditions at the scene and the needs of the command team.

Haddon Fire Company No. 1, based at 15 North Haddon Avenue in Haddonfield, was responsible for maintaining equipment and training personnel to respond to fires and other emergencies. The company operated a 100-foot aerial ladder truck, along with other firefighting apparatus, and provided mutual-aid support to nearby communities.

The Lawnside Fire Company, which served the borough from its station at Lawnside Borough Hall, also depended on regional cooperation to support its emergency response efforts.
