Berwick, Pa. — September 26 — The Reliance Fire Company No. 1 responded to a reported structure fire at 824–826 LaSalle Street, a four-unit apartment building. All occupants safely evacuated before firefighters arrived.

The fire began after an unattended candle broke, igniting the window sill. Crews quickly knocked down the flames and performed ventilation to remove smoke from the building. Tenants were able to return once the area was declared safe.
