Attleboro, MA - Two residents escaped injury Saturday night when a large tree collapsed onto their Mayhew Road home, inflicting structural damage to the dwelling and bringing live electrical wires down across the travel lanes.

Emergency personnel from the Attleboro Fire Department were alerted to the incident at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, following reports of a tree collapse with structural involvement.

First-arriving crews discovered that a mature tree from the rear of the parcel had uprooted and fallen directly onto the house, compromising the roofline and dragging electrical service lines into the middle of the roadway.

Firefighters immediately established a safety perimeter and closed Mayhew Road to both vehicular traffic and pedestrians to isolate the active electrical shock hazard. Both occupants were inside the residence when the tree impacted the structure, but neither sustained injuries.

Utility crews from National Grid were requested to de-energize and secure the fallen lines, while an Attleboro municipal building inspector was dispatched to conduct an emergency structural evaluation.

Due to the severity of the roof and framing damage, the dwelling was deemed temporarily uninhabitable, displacing the residents pending professional stabilization and repairs. Fire crews operated on the Bristol County scene until approximately 11:00 p.m. before clearing the area.
