Jacobstown, N.J. — October 19 — Members of the Jacobstown Volunteer Fire Company helped Springfield Township firefighters during a pole barn garage fire on October 19. They provided water supply support as several agencies worked together to manage the situation.
Tender 4616 delivered water to the operation through a tender shuttle. Engine 4611 was stationed at a designated fill site, where crews refilled tenders and ensured a continuous water supply for firefighting activities.
Tender shuttles are commonly used when hydrants are not available or do not provide enough water. Tanker and tender units carry water from a fill site to the fire scene, ensuring a steady supply for engines and other firefighting equipment. Good coordination between fill sites, water transport vehicles, and the fireground crew is essential for a safe and effective operation.
This incident showed the value of mutual aid between fire departments. Through mutual aid agreements, neighboring departments can share personnel and equipment when extra resources are needed. These agreements are especially helpful at fires involving large buildings or areas with limited water access.
The assistance from the Jacobstown Volunteer Fire Company helped Springfield Township in their firefighting efforts, with its members taking on important water supply roles.
The response emphasized the importance of water supply planning, well-trained personnel, and teamwork between departments during structure fires.
