Beaver Township, Pa. — October 8 — The Beaver Township Volunteer Fire Company spent the morning at Beaver Main Elementary School, teaching students about lithium-ion battery safety. Firefighters explained how these batteries are used in everyday devices such as phones, scooters, and power tools, and discussed how to recognize warning signs of overheating or malfunction.
The presentation emphasized safe charging practices, proper storage, and what to do if a battery begins to smoke or emit an unusual odor. Students were also reminded never to handle damaged batteries and to alert an adult immediately in case of an emergency.
