Hasbrouck Heights, NJ - Fast-acting crews from the Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department knocked down an evening brush fire along Hasbrouck Avenue, containing the flames before they could threaten nearby exposures during a busy operational shift.
Emergency units were dispatched at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, following reports of an active outside fire. Arriving command quickly evaluated the advancing flames and transmitted a Signal 10-30 for a working fire.
Firefighters deployed attack lines from Engine 2 and Ladder 1 under the direct supervision of Chiefs 60, 61, and 62, mounting an aggressive suppression effort that halted the brush fire's spread.
While primary crews were committed to operations on Hasbrouck Avenue, a second emergency call was transmitted reporting a hazardous natural gas leak elsewhere in town.
To maintain continuous life-safety coverage across the Bergen County community, mutual aid from the neighboring Wood-Ridge Fire Department was dispatched directly to mitigate the gas leak, allowing Hasbrouck Heights firefighters to finish wetting down hotspots and securing the brush fire perimeter.
