Botsford, CT - Two motorists sustained minor injuries and required hospitalization Sunday afternoon following a single-car motor vehicle collision along South Main Street that left significant fluid hazards across the travel lanes.
Emergency personnel from Botsford Fire Rescue, Newtown Police, and local EMS were dispatched to the 350 block of South Main Street on the afternoon of Sunday, September 27, 2026, after receiving reports of an off-road collision with injuries.
First-arriving units quickly stabilized the scene, deploying Engine 551 and Car 5, while Tanker 559 was detailed to establish a physical buffer and manage heavy traffic control through the busy corridor.
Both vehicle occupants were evaluated on site and transported by Newtown Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
Due to a large oil slick that spread across the roadway surface following the impact, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) was summoned to conduct environmental fluid treatment and clear hazardous slick spots from the travel lanes.
Hilarios Towing removed the damaged vehicle, allowing Fairfield County emergency crews to clear the scene safely.
