This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On October 21st, 2025, at approximately 1721 hours, the Linden Fire Department was dispatched to the 300 Block of West Elm St for a smoke condition. At this time, Linden fire units were operating at a 3rd alarm fire. The mutual aid task force at the cover assignment took this in. Deputy 6 arrived on scene and confirmed smoke showing from the front door of a 1-story wood-frame. Crews found a small fire on the first floor and had 1 line stretched and a supply established. Rahway Ladder 1 completed primary searches and Cranford Engine 2 knocked the fire with a water can. Companies deemed there was no extension and ventilated the structure. The scene was held to Cranford Engine 2, Union Engine 1, and Rahway Ladder 1 under the command of MAC 12.
