Slippery Rock, Pa. — October 15 — As part of their Fire Prevention Month campaign, the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company & Rescue Team visited three kindergarten classes at Slippery Rock Area Elementary School last week. Firefighters gave students a tour of the fire truck, showed them what they look like in full gear, and explained how to respond to fire emergencies. Using the fire hose, the crew performed a water demonstration as an exciting conclusion. According to the department, the day was particularly memorable because one firefighter had the unique chance to speak to his own mother's class.
