Fatal Motorcycle Accident in New Garden Township

Avondale, PA - On 25th September at approximately 6:30 p.m., Avondale Fire Company crews, along with Longwood Fire Company MICU 1-25 and Medic 94 – Southern Chester County EMS, were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Thompson Road and West Cypress Street in New Garden Township.


Initial reports indicated a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle, with the operator found lying in the grass. Within two minutes of dispatch, Chief 23, members of the Southern Chester County Regional Police Department, and nearby firefighters arrived on scene.


Responding units found the motorcycle operator receiving CPR from bystanders. Police, fire, and EMS personnel immediately coordinated to provide advanced life support and first aid. Despite the rapid response and collaborative efforts of all responders, the operator was pronounced deceased at the scene.


The second vehicle involved remained on location, and the driver cooperated fully with the investigation. No additional injuries were reported, and no other patients required transport to the hospital.


Due to the fatal nature of the incident, the Pennsylvania State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (CARS) team was called to assist with the investigation. Fire and police personnel remained on scene for several hours, and fire police closed portions of Cypress Street and Baltimore Pike throughout the duration of the incident. All units cleared the scene at approximately 10:06 p.m.


The Avondale Fire Company and responding agencies extended their sincere appreciation to the members of the public who rendered aid prior to the arrival of emergency crews. In such tragic and chaotic circumstances, their efforts did not go unnoticed.
