Collings Lakes, N.J. — October 14 — Collings Lakes Fire Department was called to assist with a mutual-aid request for a fire at a working warehouse in Hammonton during the early morning.
Around 3:28 a.m., Station 12-3 was sent to help Hammonton fire units near Weymouth Road and South Egg Harbor Road.
Hammonton firefighters confirmed the fire was close to Eighth Street and Reading Avenue, where a warehouse about 40 by 50 feet in size was fully engulfed.
Ladder 12-36, which included six firefighters, responded and was assigned as an extra ladder company. The crew stayed at the scene and was ready to offer support as needed, following the instructions of the incident commander.
The Collings Lakes Fire Department stayed on standby until the command team decided to release the unit from the assignment. Their response added another ladder company to help the Hammonton firefighters dealing with the warehouse fire.
Mutual-aid responses let nearby fire departments share their personnel and equipment when an incident needs more help.
The Collings Lakes Fire Department serves the Collings Lakes community from its station located at 600 Cains Mill Road in New Jersey.
