Cranberry Township, Pa. — October 17 — At about 3:30 a.m., Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company responded to a deck fire that was already knocked down by a quick-thinking neighbor. Smelling smoke from a street away, the resident investigated, found the source, and used a garden hose to control the flames before firefighters arrived.
Engine 21-2 secured a water supply, completed overhaul, and checked for extension. The fire was contained to the deck, and the cause remains undetermined.
Officials credited the neighbor’s actions with preventing major damage, noting several people were inside the home at the time.
