4-alarm commercial building fire in Rochester

ROCHESTER, NY - On Sunday, October 16, at 7:16 p.m., the City of Rochester Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle fire inside the building at 91 Leighton Avenue.
First arriving units found a heavy fire conditions in a 55, 000 square foot warehouse, which was used for storage by several businesses.
The blaze went to 4-alarms, bringing in mutual aid from Monroe County to the scene and to cover city fire stations.
A fire wall in the center of the block long building helped to contain the spread of the fire.
Several homes in the area were damaged from the extreme radiant heat.
Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the blaze under control and remained on scene well into the following day extinguishing hot spots.
One person who was working on a vehicle at the time of the fire was transported to a local hospital and treated for burns. There were no other injuries reported.
