Canton, Conn. — October 5 — After their weekly training, Canton Fire and EMS Department members responded to multiple emergencies Monday night, the department announced.
Emergency personnel responded to multiple incidents overnight, addressing downed trees and power lines, which caused a lengthy closure on Wright Road. Members also answered a call concerning a power outage.
Shortly after midnight, firefighters arrived at a serious car accident. To free a trapped person, they used Holmatro “ Jaws of Life” equipment. Canton Car 10 conveyed the patient to the hospital.
After the immediate emergency responses, department members remained on scene into Tuesday morning to assist Canton Police with traffic control while Eversource crews worked to restore the affected area.
The department recognized its members for continuing to respond after training and, in some cases, remaining on duty through the night without returning home. Officials thanked the firefighters and EMS personnel for their commitment to serving the community around the clock.
