Eastport, NY - Firefighters from the Eastport Fire Department, supported by neighboring mutual aid agencies, brought a working structure fire under control in under an hour early Saturday morning at a community along Old Country Road.

Just after 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, the Eastport Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire inside the trailer park located at 251 Old Country Road. First-arriving units quickly assessed heavy fire conditions, confirmed that all occupants had safely self-evacuated the structure, and transmitted a Signal 13/35 for a confirmed working fire.

First-due engine crews deployed multiple handlines, advancing rapidly on the burning structure to execute an aggressive exterior and interior fire attack.

To bolster on-scene operations and maintain area coverage, incident command requested mutual aid: the Westhampton Beach Fire Department deployed an engine to the scene, while an engine from the East Moriches Fire Department—originally assigned to district standby—was redirected directly to the fireground to support fire attack operations.

The Manorville Fire Department provided a standby engine crew at Eastport Fire Headquarters to handle any simultaneous emergencies in the home district, while emergency medical crews from Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance staged at the scene to safeguard responders and civilians.

The coordinated fire attack brought the blaze fully under control within approximately one hour. Following overhaul and safety checks, all Eastport and mutual aid units returned to service shortly after 3:00 a.m.The fireground was managed under the unified command of Chief of Department Virginia Haughn, assisted by 1st Assistant Chief Christopher Hulse and Captain Joseph Tortorice.
