South Park, PA - Emergency crews from Stations 270 and 271 responded to a motor vehicle crash with entrapment at the intersection of Corrigan Drive and Maple Springs in South Park.

Upon arrival, the 270 Deputy discovered a single vehicle that had gone over an embankment, resulting in multiple injuries. Due to the difficult terrain, firefighters from 270 Engine and 271 Rescue established a rope system to safely lift the patients from the creek using a stokes basket.

A medical helicopter was requested; however, it was unable to fly because of poor weather conditions. Both patients were subsequently transported by ground to local trauma centers for treatment.

The Allegheny County Police Department is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
