At approximately 2250 hours on October 14, 2025, Camden Battalion Chief Ed Stratton radioed to the fire dispatcher for a box to be struck for heavy fire showing from a row house directly across the street from the quarters of Engine Co 9, Ladder Co 3, and the 2nd Battalion. The Camden County Fire Alarm Room transmitted a box for 12 N. 27th Street which is one of several two story ordinary constructed row homes. There was heavy fire throughout the original fire building and fire was extending left and right. The All Hands signal was transmitted. First due units, initiated fire attack and the truck company went to the roof to try to cut off the fire from extending down the row on the “D” side. As the building started to deteriorate, at 2059, BC Ed Stratton ordered defensive operations. Crews were successful in stopping the fire from taking out the entire row on the “D” exposure side, but fire communicated to the attached “B” side which houses a branch office of Bank of America. The second alarm was ordered at 2133 hours and due to the manpower intense operation, a third alarm was transmitted at 2225 hours. Crews were able to gain access to the interior of the bank where they were able to pull ceilings and in conjunction with interior lines and ladder pipes, were able to keep the fire from consuming the entire building, but the building sustained severe damage. The fire was placed under control at 1146 hours by Chief of Department Jesse Flax. Several firefighters were transported to the hospital for non life threatening injuries. The fire is being investigated by the Camden FMO with assistance from the County and State.
