Taunton, NY - Elevated master stream operations brought a large outdoor industrial fire under control in approximately 20 minutes Wednesday afternoon following a coordinated mutual aid response between the Taunton and Solvay fire departments.
At 1:09 p.m. on September 23, 2026, Taunton Fire Department Ladder 5, led by Lieutenant Williams, and Car 2, under Deputy Chief Harris, were dispatched from quarters to assist the Solvay Fire Department with a reported industrial fire along Bridge Street.
Responding alongside Solvay Engine 21, Taunton Ladder 5 arrived on scene as the first-due truck company. Solvay Car 3 established incident command and reported a large, heavy fire burning outdoors on industrial property, with no immediate structural involvement. Command directed Ladder 5 to position immediately for elevated master stream suppression.
Once engine crews secured a continuous positive water supply from a nearby hydrant, Ladder 5 raised its aerial device and placed the high-capacity waterway into service. The heavy water flow rapidly overwhelmed the flames, bringing the blaze fully under control within 20 minutes and preventing any extension into neighboring commercial facilities.
