October 2 — Livingston, N.J. — On Thursday evening, Livingston firefighters were dispatched for a reported deck fire at Cedar Hill Country Club. Employees on-site had already used dry chemical extinguishers to knock down the flames before crews arrived.
Firefighters found smoldering deck furniture and a venting propane tank. A leader line was stretched from Engine 5 to the second-floor deck to wet down hot spots and secure the tank. The Bureau of Fire Prevention later investigated.
Units operating included Engines 1, 3, 5; Ladder 1; Rescue 1; and Deputy Chiefs F1 and F3. The department thanked Cedar Hill staff for their quick actions that helped prevent further damage.
