Pomfret, Vt. — September 16, 2026 — On Wednesday, the Pomfret-Teago Volunteer Fire Department answered two fire alarms before four of its members participated in a regional water supply training exercise with neighboring departments.
The initial call arrived at 10:01 a.m. at Prosper Valley School. Firefighters who responded to the alarm investigated the cause and discovered that a malfunctioning water heater had triggered it. By 10:33 a.m., the crews had cleared the scene.
Later that afternoon, at 4:23 p.m., Firefighters were sent to respond to a residential fire alarm. When they arrived, the crews found that construction dust had triggered a newly installed alarm. The department finished clearing the scene at 4:34 p.m.
