Cape May, N.J. — October 8 — On Wednesday morning, Cape May Firefighters responded to a residential fire on Bridge Lane. Crews arrived to find a small fire on the rear deck that had been mostly knocked down by the homeowner using a garden hose.

Firefighters quickly extinguished remaining hot spots, checked for extension, and assisted with ventilation to clear smoke from the residence.

No injuries were reported, and the quick action by the homeowner helped limit the damage before the department’s arrival.
