House Fire on Curtis Street Quickly Contained; One Firefighter Injured

Penn Hills, PA - On Wednesday morning 24 September, shortly before 9 a.m., Stations 225, 227, 222, 221, and 285 were dispatched to a reported house fire in the 200 block of Curtis Street. Upon arrival, Penn Hills Fire Marshal (PHFM) and Penn Hills Police Department (PHPD) confirmed smoke and flames visible from the residence. The occupant had safely evacuated prior to the arrival of fire crews.


Truck 227 (227TK) arrived on scene and laid a supply line from the nearest hydrant. The crew from 227TK deployed two attack lines into the structure to begin fire suppression. Engine 285 (285EN) arrived shortly after and secured a water supply to 227TK.

Multiple companies from Penn Hills and Verona worked together to bring the fire under control within approximately 40 minutes of dispatch. One firefighter was transported for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The Penn Hills Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
