West Carthage, NY - Firefighters from the West Carthage Fire Department mobilized Tuesday afternoon to provide mutual aid suppression and overhaul support at a working structure fire in the Village of Antwerp, Jefferson County.
On September 29, 2026, the Antwerp Fire Department requested an interior engine company from West Carthage to assist crews operating at an active building fire. West Carthage responded with 1st Assistant Chief 49-0-2 and Pumper-Tanker 49-4-2 out of the Village Station.
Upon arriving on scene, the West Carthage interior crew was put to work assisting with extensive overhaul operations to uncover hidden fire extension.
Firefighters deployed hand and power tools to peel back sections of a compromised metal roof, venting trapped heat and systematically accessing stubborn pockets of fire trapped within the building's upper structural spaces to ensure complete extinguishment.
