Monroe, Connecticut — October 8 —In less than a day, Monroe Volunteer Firefighters responded to two distinct fire incidents, demonstrating their ability to work as a team and respond quickly throughout the town. Crews were called to a house on Knorr Road early on Wednesday afternoon after receiving reports of a clothes dryer smoking and sparking. Firefighters verified that the fire had not spread beyond the appliance. The smoke was expelled from the house using ventilation fans after the dryer was taken out.

Just hours earlier, at approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday night, firefighters responded to a large manufacturing facility on lower Main Street for an activated fire alarm. Upon arrival, crews located a production machine on fire inside the building. Firefighters quickly contained the fire to the machinery and remained on scene for nearly two hours to ventilate the structure.

All Monroe fire companies were called to the scene, while volunteer firefighters from Long Hill and White Hills provided station coverage. No injuries were reported in either incident, and property damage was minimized thanks to the coordinated response.
