Late-Night Two-Vehicle Crash on Route 26A Brings Multi-Department Response in Columbia County

Kinderhook, NY - Firefighters from the Kinderhook Fire Company (Palmer Engine & Hose Company 1) mobilized late Tuesday night to provide mutual aid traffic control and scene safety support following a motor vehicle collision involving a car and a motorcycle in Columbia County.
At 10:53 p.m. on September 15, 2026, the Kinderhook Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Stuyvesant Fire Department at the scene of an auto accident with personal injury (AAPI) along Route 26A in the Town of Stuyvesant.
Kinderhook deployed command officers in Car 1, Car 2, and Car 3, alongside utility/fire police apparatus 35-40, to secure the roadway perimeter. Emergency personnel established temporary detours and managed traffic diversion around the crash scene, ensuring a protected work zone for treating paramedics, fire crews, and law enforcement conducting the collision investigation along the dark highway corridor.
