Robert Fulton Crews Use 30,000 Gallons of Water at Mulch Pile Fire

— September 20, 2026 — Firefighters from Robert Fulton Fire Company and several mutual-aid agencies worked for more than two hours Sunday to control a large mulch pile fire that required heavy equipment and approximately 30,000 gallons of water. 


Robert Fulton Fire Company Assistant 89 arrived at 2:46 p.m. and found high temperatures concentrated near the top and center of a large mulch pile. Engine 3 responded with five personnel, Engine 1 with six, and a tanker with two. 


Additional resources were requested to help supply water and reach the hot spots deep within the pile. Responding mutual-aid resources included Ladder 8 from Cecil County, Quarryville 57, Rising Sun 8, and Water Witch 7, along with additional water-supply resources.
