Attleboro, MA - The Attleboro Fire Department responded to a crash in which a vehicle narrowly avoided hitting a building. At approximately 2:09 p.m. on Oct. 9, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a reported crash outside a fast-food restaurant located at 134 Pleasant Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found a single vehicle with moderate damage.
Inside the car were two occupants — a male driver in his 70s and a male passenger in his 20s. The passenger was able to exit the vehicle independently, while firefighters assisted the driver in getting out. Both individuals were transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Brewster Ambulance provided assistance at the scene.
Lt. Corey Blais noted that the situation could have been far worse, stating, “If this had happened during a busier time of day, it could have been a completely different call. It’s very fortunate that no cars or pedestrians were in the parking lot.”
Although the vehicle did not strike the building, it collided with a curb in front of the business, which brought it to a stop. Fire crews remained on scene for roughly 30 minutes.
The Attleboro Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
